Why Do Companies That Beat Earnings Lose Value? (Lyft Example)

Lyft recently posted a good earnings report, but still lost more than 10% of their stock’s value in the following days. The reason for this is due to earnings expectations falling, and thus investors being wary of the company losing momentum in profits.
Hopefully the question of “why is my stock getting hammered after beating earnings expectations” will be answered.
